Knights of Columbus Lenten Dinners
posted:2-9-2012
Tell your wife the three little words that she loves to hear - "let's eat out" - and come to the Knights of Columbus fish dinners. And bring your family and friends with you too!
The Knights of Columbus Lenten dinners has grown into a social and spiritual gathering each week during Lent at the church.
While generally considered a Catholic-only activity, we have seen the dinner become more of a community event that draws people of other faiths.
Dinners will be served Friday evenings during Lent (Beginning on February 24) from 5:00 to 7:00pm in the parish hall.
The menu includes baked or fried fish, baked potatoes, vegetable, fresh garden salad or cole slaw, roll, dessert and beverages. Pizza is available for the kids.
Adults are only $8.00, children 6-12 years of age are $4.00. Such a good deal1 Come on out!
Procceds benefit Christ the King parish programs.
Mass is at 5:30pm each Friday during Lent, followed by Stations of the Cross

Bishop Pates speaks on HHS Mandate
posted:2-13-2012
Bishop Pates issued a letter to the faithful regarding the US Department of Health and Human Services rule on madatory health care coverage of contraceptives, sterilization and abortion-inducing drugs.
Bishop Pates blog and other information about the HHS mandate.
(October 2004 - October 2005).
Msgr Boganno has asked that parishioners send emails and letters to Senators Harkin and Grassley and Represtative Boswell registering their objection to the rule handed down by the department of Health and Human Services requiring all employers to provide insurance plans which include sterilization, contraception and the distribution of abortifacient pills.
Our objection is primarily against the overreaching of our Goverment into religion, forcing us to act against our conscience.
If you have not written, please do so at www.governmentoffices.org. If you wish more information, go to www.usccb.org/conscience.

Examination of Conscience
posted:1-23-2012
Reconciliation addresses the disease (sinfulness) rather than the symptoms (sins). So, the sacrament calls us to more than prepared speeches or lists of sins. We are challenged to search deep into our heart of hearts to discover the struggles, value conflicts and ambiguities (the disease) which cause the sinful acts (the symptoms) to appear.
A listing of various types: on the left hand side of the main page, under Sacraments - highlight Reconciliation. You will find information on how to make a good confession for various age groups and situations.

First Friday Devotion and Healing Mass
posted: 9-27-2010
The first Friday of every month there will be a Mass that begins at 7:00 pm. The Mass will include: sprinkling with Holy Water from Lourdes; the Sacrament of Anointing of the sick; Blessing of the sick.
The First Friday Devotion is the practice of receiving Eucharist on nine consecutive First Fridays.
It is a Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It comes from the revelations made by Christ to St. Margret Mary Alacogue, a Visitation Nun in France in 1673.
Jeasus asked that the faithful make reparation (act of amends) to His Sacred Heart by lovingly receiving Eucharist on each first Friday. The First Friday must be consecutive and they must be made in honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
