Ash Wednesday (February 10)
Lent is upon us this Wednesday, February 10. We will celebrate three Ash Wednesday Masses; 8:40 am, 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm (Spanish). All people, all non-Catholics, can receive Ashes, since this is a “sacramental” not a sacrament. Of course they would have to be catholic to receive the sacrament of the Most Holy Eucharist.
Fireside Chats/Pope Francis Letter on Mercy:
This lent two special opportunities each week.
1. Fireside chats: Each Sunday, 5:00 -6:00 pm in the parish hall. Purpose: answer any & all questions about Catholicism , religion, faith morals, etc. Open to all people with questions—Catholic, non-Catholic, seekers, possible converts , etc. Conducted by Msgr Frank Bognanno.
2. Discussion groups on Pope Francis letter on Divine Mercy: Four Tuesday’s ( 7:00pm -8:00pm) in the parish hall (February 23, March, 1,8 and 15) learn the amazing insights of Pope Francis on “ God’s Great Mercy” Booklets will be provided. Conducted by Deacon Tony Valdez.
Knights of Columbus of Christ the King will be serving their Lenten fish dinners from 5-7 p.m. in the parish hall Fridays during Lent. The menu includes baked and fried fish, baked potatoes, vegetable, cole slaw, rolls dessert and beverages. Cost is $8/adults, $4/children 4-12. Proceeds benefit Christ the King parish programs. Mass is at 5:30 p.m. followed by Stations of the Cross each Friday during Lent.
